Good point. I agree with you that it would remove the "penalty" aspect of the WG Point system. However, the reason I felt that we needed a point system in the first place was to create a means for people with fewer bills entered into the system to move ahead (in rank) of others who had more bills entered because the person with fewer bills was more successful. (By successful I mean having a higher hit rate.)
I found it exciting to see everyone's rank change on a daily basis as more hits rolled in and people entered more bills. (Hank and I flip-flopped in place repeatedly even though he had entered only 1/3 the number of bills that I had.) The inactivity factor also worked quite well. (Janet dropped way down in the rankings when she stopped coming to the site.)
The question we need to raise is whether we're arguing which ranking system is the best or whether we should have a ranking system at all. We could keep the scoring systems in place and just not choose one to rank order people with. I guess the only thing left to argue at that point would be which system to order users by as a default when the top users screen came up. :-)
This is a good debate, I'm enjoying it.
