Adam, I understand that you want the "top users" to be ranked by the number of bills they have entered. However, anyone can go to this site and enter 20,000 bills. (Obviously, most choose not to.) All that this ranking system would show is those users who are very dedicated to entering bills. There was a user named Christopher who had entered something like 1250 bills without a hit. (I think he finally got one ... congratualtions!) For all we know, someone like Christopher could go on the site and enter thousands of fake entires and we (and even Hank) might not be the wiser. The ranking systems were designed to give alternate views of how the WG users compare with each other.

When I developed the original WG Points rating system, Hank and I were trying to come up with an interesting way to rank people based on how successful (lucky?) they were at stamping bills and having them get reentered. I won't go back into why I think that the WG Points worked well. I've already explained this when we first introduced the point system. (see the link below)
I still have not made up my mind on the George Score ranking system. I still don't think that credit should be given at all (in the primary ranking system) for the number of bills that have been entered. Since WG is a website to see what happens with bills that have hits, we should concentrate on the hits and hit percentages. But as I said, I'm still considering the George Score system.

Perhaps the best way to handle the situation is to throw out all the ranking systems. I don't mean that we should get rid of the George Score or the WG Points, but that we should no longer indicate rank on the "Your Bills" page. You can always go to the "Top Users" page and see who the top 10/20/30/etc users are based on any of the stats listed there.

This would eliminate the competition that may exist and it would certainly end the debate on what the best ranking system is.

Adam and Ms. K: Would you two still be pushing for the WG ranking system to be based on the total number of bills if you two weren't the top two users in this category?

Chris
