have you ever seen the seinfeld episode when george gets caught putting money in the tip jar, but looks like hes stealing from it? heehee... read on.
so im out with some friends last night - went to a local pizza dive (sometimes, the locally owned pizza places are the best. yummy.) - ok back to the story:
next to the register was a tip jar (i thought, why, pray tell, is there a tip jar for the person who sits behind the counter and just rings my food up?) but i digress. moving on.
in the jar, i see something that strikes my eye. at the very bottom, theres something there that resembles a pig, or a real ugly dog stamp. after realizing that perhaps maybe its one of those elusive PitBoss georges, i get excited and concoct a scheme to retrieve the bill. i would just leave one of my marked georges in its place. simple plan one would think, huh? um no.
its all about the timing. something that i apparently lacked last night. that and dancing. come to think of it.. playing basketball too. oh yea, and growing hair, and ... whoa... major tangent.
the girl turned her back to answer the phone – with my marked george bill in hand, i quickly put my hand in this pickle jar, shuffling the bills about with my fingers. problem? yes - my ring hits the side and makes a big "clinking" sound - catching the attention of not only the cashier, but some of the patrons as well. The cashier told the manager and he came out. he looked like he belonged on the sopranos – thought I was gonna find out where jimmy hoffa was.
red faced, i tried to tell him about wheresgeorge. he doesnt believe me and my colleagues, who could have set me free, have since disappeared making me look like im even more guilty. not to mention, i still had my marked bill in hand – the one I was going to swap the pig one with. to make matters worse, he tells me that the tip jar is for his DAUGHTER who is, of all things, the cashier person.
we finally cleared the air and im still allowed to eat there. but im not paying the bill! i will give someone else my money!
and no, i didnt get the pig bill. and yes, i left my bill as a tip for the cashier. not to mention a nice crisp unmarked $10 that i left cause i felt bad.
