Please go to 'Your Bills/All Hits by State'
Go to the bottom of the page
Set the Cutoff and State Color (HEX code)
Select the 'Get a hit map' (button)
After the map image is displayed…
Right click on the map image and select Properties
Select Address URL (makes sure you move down and select the entire URL, even the portion that is not initially displayed in the URL window)
Copy and paste the URL into your profile
This is the URL of my 'Hits by State – Map': http://www.wheresgeorge.net/hitmaps/hit_map_1b9232677215b9457adff6251ccc6aef.png?md=605ac13117bae148bd010f610833baad
This is the HTML I inserted in my profile:
"
Here is a helpful link: 'User Links/Directory of Where's George? related pages/Profile Ideas/Help and Other WG Silliness by WerImmer, John E., Mike R., and Slowpoke/
Making a cool profile'
Now, when you get a hit in a new state, just select the 'Get a hit map' (button) again to regenerate the map image. If the changes are not reflected, press the browser 'refresh' button (not the Where's George 'refresh') to reflect the changes.
Reminder:
If you include the 'Number of Hits/State Color' legend in your profile; should your values change, remember to reflect the new values on your profile legend too.
You probably know all the steps. They are included here to serve as a tutorial for new Georgers, unfamiliar with the process.
However, I wish there were a variable which could display "Number of Hits / State Color" data and then I could paste that under the map image. When they Cutoff values change, I have to manually insert them in the profile. Or as a Mitch suggested the inclusion of close tags would be nice.
I have a few questions for Hank and/or Bruce. How are the default values calculated? Why do the values change? I wish they would stay the same as I had last left them (the previous time I updated my map image).
Note: I would have posted a follow-up to the original post: however that forum is now closed.
Good Luck & Happy Georgering!
