Was the hardware actually manufactured by Gateway or did they use another vendor's product, like Creative Labs? Sometime you may need to go to the actual manufacturer's website, instead of the website where you purchased the PC.

: I went to Gateway.com (the brand of my computer) typed in the serial number, and tried to download the drivers. It looked good, so I went and ate dinner, came back to my computer half an hour later and it was still downloading. Then, something happened, and we needed to start over.
