Aaron,
Search the net for you sound driver vendor and the respective drivers. I have had to do that on numerous occasions for various clients' PCs.
Billbo,
I don't have a website in mind. I would start with the hard drive manual. If not available, I would suggest that you search the net.
Allow me to make some additional suggestions:
1) Backup up your data files. If you still have the software, you can re-install the software applications.
2) Have software drivers available. One of the most important drivers would be CD ROM drivers. Make sure you have a version that will load from a 3.5 floppy drive A:. Having the CD ROM drivers on a CD does not help you, unless your system can recognize the CD ROM hardware. Also, most operating systems are located on CD ROM now.
3) Backup E-mail – I use Outlook and Outlook Express. Be sure to backup the actual e-mails, address book, and possibly your mailbox settings. It will make easier and quicker to get setup again.
4) Export and backup your Internet favorites (cookies are not as critical).
I only make these suggestions, because I recently re-formatted my personal hard drive [nightmare], and lost some of the above items. No insult intended. I just wanted to spare you some aggravation and didn’t want to possibly hear you *pouting* “I hate this damn computer!” *smile* I really hope this helps.
Good Luck & Happy Georgering!
