Subject: The latest on Series 2003, 2004, and beyond

There's an article in the latest issue of Numismatic News about Rosario Marin's resignation as Treasurer, and I thought a few points might be of interest to the WG crowd:

-The BEP says they do plan to use the "A" series designations if a new Treasurer's signature comes along before there are any other changes to the notes.

-The issue of Series 2003 and 2004 with the Marin-Snow signatures will proceed as planned, until such time as a new Treasurer is in office.

-Production of Series 2003 notes did begin in May, as had been expected (but no specifics about denominations were mentioned).

-Numismatic News still says that there will be Series 2003 $20's, of the 1996-2001 designs. Coin World has said that no 2003 $20's will be printed, so somebody still hasn't got the story straight.

-And it's not currency-related, but the rumor mill has it that Marin may have resigned in order to plan a run against Barbara Boxer for a U.S. Senate seat next year.
