Subject: Change in the way FOG contributions are applied/policy

As you may know, up until now if I received a FOG contribution after the 15th of the month, you got the remainder of that month for "free" and the clock for your contribution started the next month. For instance, of I received your $18 contribution on January 20th, your FOG status would run from January 20th thru the end of April (three full months plus "paid" the last 11 days of January "free").

I had created this policy so that if someone new to the program joined after the 15th of the month, they didn't get "cheated" out of an entire month's worth of FOG benefits. I did not have this policy to allow existing FOG members to send $6 every other month on the 15th to get six weeks for the price of four over and over again.

But due to a number of people taking advantage of this policy..it is now changing. There are now three possible scenarios:

(1) You are an existing FOG member in good status, and I receive your new contribution before your current FOG status expires. You will receive full uninterrupted credit starting the next month (or whatever month your current FOG status expires). The new "renewal/expire" notices should help everyone fall under this scenario.

(2) You are a new FOG member (Free Trial people included). People who have never sent a contribution fall into this category. These people will receive the duration of the month in which I receive their contribution as a "free partial month", regardless of what actual day I receive their contribution. So if someone has January as their Free Trial month, and I receive their contribution on February 5th, their paid FOG status will run thru the end of March (one full paid month).

(3) You are an existing/past FOG member, and I receive your contribution AFTER your current FOG status expires. Regardless of the day of the month I receive your contribution, the month in which I receive your contribution will count as your first month. So if your status expired in December, and I receive your FOG contribution on the 25th of the January, January will count as the first month, and in affect you will only be getting 5 days worth of FOG benefits for the first month. So, to help avoid this situation, you will now be receiving two "renewal/expire" notices during the last month of your current membership (one around the second week, and another near the end of the month). That should give you plenty of time to contribute again if you choose to - to make sure your FOG status continues uninterrupted.

I believe this makes it fair for everyone. Thanks.
