This is not directed at anyone in particular [secretly desiring… it will be received by all]. Hopefully, it will be read and taken to heart. *smile* The impetus was spawned by the cyclical nature of the forums – in particular the 'Dude' forum.
Essentially, Hank does everything around here. WG is a One Man Show. Yes, Hank does receive assistance from Team Aqua and others assist with answers on the forums. I truly appreciate all of your assistance and efforts. *smile*
Perhaps we all cannot donate money (FOG), time (Team Aqua and/or answers to forum questions in), computer hardware, software or network access, or write programs that all Georgers can utilize? But what we ALL can do is: conduct ourselves in a civil fashion.
Hank's time and resources are limited. And I think it would be very nice if some people would display their appreciation more by behaving appropriately and more maturely. Please minimize Hank's distractions. Please abide by the few guidelines (WG and forum) that Hank has established. O.K. I have an ulterior motive. I want Hank to focus his time on enhancements, not maintenance and 'babysitting'. *pout*
Forum etiquette:
I remember as a kid, if I inadvertently left an outside door opened, when entering the house, my mom would say, "What… so you live in a barn?" [Sheesssh, I hated her stupid sayings.] Anyway, with regards to WG, I now say, "Would you behave like this in your own home?" Sure, there are advantages in being anonymous on the net; yet there are also the disadvantages. Sometimes, we display less common respect for others, than we would if we were in person. "Do you type to your mother with those fingers?" Yikes… that lost its translation from, when someone using profanity… "Do you kiss your mother with those lips?" *shrug*
And, I don't want to come off as a party pooper or prude. I think everyone has their own definition of fun. But I strongly believe that your 'rights' cease when they are the expense of others or tread on someone else's 'rights'. "Your rights extend to the tips of your fingers… Come any closer, and I'll kick you in the …" [Where am I going with this? *belly laugh* oh, yeah… I got sidetracked] We should be trying to improve WG and not detract from it.
Side note: Just because someone else acts inappropriately does not mean that another should also. "Two wrongs don't make a right". And because you have not yet been addressed for past infractions, does not guarantee that you will not be addressed in the future. Have fun. Play nice. And, if you can't, then I respectfully request you take it somewhere else and not spoil it for the rest of us. *smile*
So, I will try to be more patient, more courteous, and more forgiving of my fellow Georgers. [I will try to minimize my incessant and inane requests of Hank]. Again, I want the Dude Forum to be a place that I desire to frequent. Quite frankly I am embarrassed when a friend says to me, "Hey Hans… WG is a cool site. So what's up the bad eggs in the Dude Forum? I don't want my kids to see that. Thanks… but no thanks." I am proud of Hank, WG, and its community. WG is where I chose to spend most of time, while on the net. Thank you all.
