Anything that's much more than 200 characters bothers me. For some people, their limit is 100, or maybe 400. But I really doubt many people are bothered much by 55 character subject lines.

If you set the limit to 200, or 250, you'd stop the people who were doing it for the purposes of being annoying. You'd impact 1% of us, but solve 90% of the problem.

Limiting it to 50 characters impacts about 70% of us, and solves maybe 94% of the problem.

Personally, my browser looks funny with all these short subject lines crammed into the left margain with acres of free space. It reminds me of Illinois!

Also, I'm not looking forward to seeing subjects such as this:

Im so exctd! I rcvd a msg abt my prfl maps tdy!nt

Just because I never fully "experienced" using a telegraph doesn't mean that I'm in need of lesson.

Also, you'll probably see some people post 2 or 3 messages in succession, just so they can get their point across in the subject line. I thought about doing that now, to show how annoying it is, but my better judgement came through.

Please, Hank, just be reasonable.
