I have stored notes for regular entries vs. my chicken george entries (actually, I have many stored notes.)

Perhaps, for a given bill entry session, there could be a way to distinguish the first bill entry from subsequent bill entries.

The first entry would pass on the new feature, counter variable, (from preference default). All subsequent entries would behave as before and copy the entire 'notes' from the previous bill entry.

To reset, one would just close the bill entry window, change the default message, then open a new bill entry window.

Hmmm, after a little thought, that may be more difficult that first thought. How would we get the counter variable to work from the copy "the entire 'notes' from the previous bill entry"?

It would be easier if we could get the counter variable to work directly from the notes fields. I would guess that is more complex. It is probably easier to read the variable count from the preference screen than from the bill entry screen.

Forgive me for my babbling. I don't know enough about the data structure to speculate.

By all means, I am not ungrateful. I've been using it. Thanks again Hank.

HMG in MAss,

: I discovered that if you use just the @CNT@ variable in the Default User Note, the rest of the note is no longer there after you enter the bill. I usually put in where I got the bill, and it's mildly (not really seriously) troublesome to have to type it all in again.

: Do you suppose Hank could be talked into fixing it so that it keeps the whole User Note? I don't know whether that would cause bad problems elsewhere, but if not I think it would be a big improvement.

: CM
