I find this post interesting, so I'm going to speak in lieu of T-man. Remember that the opinions expressed herein are not necessarily those of management, and this station.

"so could you explain how this would be natural circulation since you are placing regulations on how many people get together to release a certain number of brand new crisp bills all on the same day in all 50 states..."

Think about this for a minute. The *circulation* is completely natural, because (1) the spending method will be natural - there are no constraints on what they'll be used for, as long as it doesn't violate Hank's regs, and (2) new bills are released all of the time by the bank. They have to get out into the public somehow - they're not just dropped from the sky by aeroplanes.

You are getting stuck on the 'certain number' and 'new bill' concepts. The only reason why these two conditions are part of the experiment are because this is an attempt to see how a certain number of bills, *in like condition, released in a like manner*, take their travels from state to state over time. This is the way that experiments are run all of the time - they are designed to impose equal conditions, as much as possible, on the test subjects (the bills in this case - in equal numbers from each state, all being new and allowed to travel for the same period of time), and allows the unknown factors (spending habits of the general population around them, bill movement from one area to another) to then affect the end result (where they end up and how). There is absolutely no 'contest' aspect - it's all experiment for experimentation's sake - out of curiosity. And, precisely for all of the reasons - or at least the main one - that Hank created this site - to see where your money goes.

Your next point:

"..not to mention that some even do not like the idea of getting ones from a bank.."

That's OK. No-one is being drafted, and the experiment isn't being executed by people that *don't* like new ones. This has no bearing on the concept. Remember, the idea is to use bills that all exhibit the same general condition, so that they can be expected to have the same overall lifetime in circulation.

BTW, nearly 95% of all of the bills that I've marked have been new from the bank. They're almost always available, and I mark them discreetely by hand, and spend them on knick-knacks, food, gas, etc.. all completely natural. The reason why I prefer new bills is precisely for the reasons outlined above - I like comparing apples to apples, over time, in observing bill travel and longevity.

Remember, this website is, perhaps in one sense, one great big experiment in probabilities and Chaos theory. Some of us care not a whit about a george score... only in where these things go.

And personally, I don't mind myself that you posted anonymously. I understand your point about flames. You did pose your question rationally and civilly, so that makes up for it :)

Just my, as Excelsior would say, george/50 worth..
