Each of my bills has a different User Note since I number my bills, as well as noting condition and (when known) where I got them. I also go back and note where and date spent (if known). The time to enter these data is much longer than just the denom/series/serial number entry.

It would be useful if one could enter the serial numbers as at present, and then prepare offline some kind of file with the User Notes to upload. For one thing, as a dial-in user, I'd really like to cut down the time I tie up the phone line.

Example of a possible format, something like this(with full serial numbers):

*1/1988A/L1234---8M
UserNote Line 1
UserNote Line 2
*5/1999/AB8765---1C
Next UserNote Line 1
...

As for errors, just stopping at the first one after identifying it would be OK; the User Notes just wouldn't get updated until fixed, but the serial number data would have already been put in so it wouldn't mess up anyone who finds the bill(s). (The only errors I can think of in this scenario are improperly-formatted bill description, bill not found, and User Note too long--the latter of which isn't presently caught anyway; we get silent truncation.)

This would obviously be a feature for experienced users, so the means of invoking it would not need to be made obvious, so it wouldn't need to confuse the new visitors entering a bill they found. Perhaps "upload a file of my User Notes" could be an option tucked away in the toolbox or something.

Just thinking out loud,
