: I also think it would be neat to know who/what bill is number 10 million.

Plain and simple - NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. 99% of you weren't here for the $1,000,00 mark, and therefore you have no idea the trouble it created. People entered TONS OF FAKE BILLS just to be "the one". One of the problems was a user that INSISTED HE entered the "one" (and put it in his profile), and when I could prove to him that he didn't and in fact was hours off, he still didn't believe me and was sure that he entered the bill. It went back and forth for about a week. I finally had to actually declare the actual user and bill (MsK, who entered a $100 bill) , just to get this jerk off my back. He was simply relying on the George-o-meter to schedule his bill entries. Sure, he was entering bills when it "clicked over", but by that time, the bill had already been entered hours previously. Ever since then, the GOM has a random delay built in so that I never have to argue for a week with some zealot who thinks he knows better than me.

: I find it sad that Hank does not want to celebrate this number and make a bigger deal about it.

Sure, it's a great MILESTONE to celebrate, but there will be no fanfare to identify the bill or the person who entered the bill. End of story.

: If it was my site, I would encourage people to try and be number 10 mil.

If it was your site, you might have a clue what goes on behind the scenes, and then I'm sure you would change your tune. Don't assume you have any idea what it takes to run this site.

: Sure we do not want fake bills, but I believe that most wheresgeorge users follow the rules.

Sure, most do, but the few that don't cause significant problems.

: I like wheresgeorge, but I think Hank has a strange view on some issues.

I take serious offense to that.

: Like entering bills,
: Why just one bill at a time???
: To limit false bills, yea maybe.

I've had several users enter thousands of fake bills, one at a time, just for fun. Early on, I had one person enter 26,000 FAKE BILLS, one at a time. It took days to track them down and delete them, and many still exist that I couldn't identify (Look for "Walter C." in the top user list). If there was any facility to enter multiple bills at one time, I can't imagine the problems it would create, and you certainly can't comprehend what it takes to manage this site and nearly 3/4 million users. Like I said, it's easy for you to say you would do things differently, but trust me, if you could see what I see, you wouldn't. I deal with tens of idiotic users daily. I simply can't provide functionality that could and would be easily abused.

: But it has also kept me and I sure thousands of others from entering real bills because of the amount of time needed to enter each single bill.

If you want to play, it's not much to ask to enter on bill at a time to ensure that the database is not abused.
