Members of the "Friends of Where's George?" program are familiar with seeing ZIP codes next to the city name in their bill reports. Many Where's George? users utilize these to generate maps, plugging them into a converter to generate the latitude and longitude used for placing points on a hit map. When a bill is entered into the system, the ZIP code is automatically converted to lat/lon pairs in order to determine the distance travelled and average speed. Recently, I was chatting with a few Georgers, and we realized that it would save time and effort if it were possible to access the lat/lon data on a hit, without having to convert back from a ZIP code as it appears in the reports. We figured that there could be a choice in the "User Preferences" page (Under "Toolbox" in the navigation frame) to allow a user to choose between ZIP code or lat/lon reporting (or both?) in their bill reports.
So, how about it? Is anyone else interested in being able to get lat/lon points without having to manually convert them?
If one person replies to this posting and says they want latitude and longitude, Hank may think they're really strange, and not do anything about it.
If two people do it (in harmony), Hank may think they're both wierdos and he won't do anything about it then, either.
And if Three people do it (can ya imagine three people askin' for it?), Hank may begin to think it's an organization.
And can ya imagine fifty people a day -- I say fifty people a day! -- replyin' to this post and askin' for latitude and longitude? And friends, he may think it's a movement! And that's just what it is: The Where's George? Latitude/Longitude Movement!!! And all ya gotta do to join, is reply to this post in favor of it! (With feeling...)
