: If HANK wants to wade into this and tell me that I'm misbehaving from HIS perspective (as the ultimate arbiter), I'll change my ways.

I'll make this short and sweet as possible.

What you are doing clearly violates the rules I have established. As MHG has indicated, one of my prime objectives of running this site is to keep the database as clean and accurate as possible. Simply put, entering any other zip code besides your current zip code create bad data. The data and accuracy only gets worse from that point as those bills get hits (for reasons already stated).

Also, in order to get clean and accurate data, each bill entry is automatically timestamped with the exact time you enter a bill, and your entering a bill with your zip code is the only entry method that makes sense - you are, in good faith, reporting exactly WHERE (not WHEN) you the bill is when you enter it. You DO NOT have control over the timestamp to report where the bill was at some other time in the past or future - your responsibility as a good georger is to report clean and accurate bill entries - that the rule is plain and simple (as stated in the FAQ): Only enter bills you have in your possession, from the zip code where you are at the moment you enter them.

Now some people might suggest having an additional field on the input form to indicate the day/date that corresponds to the zip code of entry. While this would allow honest georges to make reportings of where they found a bill, it would create so much confusion and bad data that I would have to essentially give up trying to keep the database accurate and fun, not to mention the avalanche of emails from people that do not understand what date to enter. I get enough email already from people who can't figure out the existing entry form, and ask questions like "I can't find the zip code on my dollar bill - where is it?". And trying to explain to these people the difference between the "series year" and the "entry date/year" would be futile, and people would just enter bad data because they can't figure it out. And adding a field like that would just beg for people to start entering bills to spoof the system and create "sleepers" and "fastest, furthest" traveled bills, that no longer would *any* bill hit report in the system be reliable. But that's what you are doing - you're lying to the system of where the bill is when you enter it, just because you think you know better. I developed and run this site with a few rules and expectations of the users - please follow the rules or don't play at all.

When I approached "Don and Heather" from MA, who where clearly breaking the rules, he thought he was in the right by breaking the rules, or rather making up an entire set of rules for himself. As much as I tried to correct him, I realized it was futile, he refused to change his behavior or his "rules", so I asked him for one last time to play by the rules or don't play at all. He again refused, so I disabled his account, and he and all his "cafe bills" and their hundreds of fake hits are gone. I'll make the same request of you - play by the rules that are on the FAQ and User Guideline pages, or don't play at all. Yes, I would like to have as many people using the site as possible, but not when the integrity and accuracy of the database is at risk - it ruins it for everyone involved. Also, please listen when other users attempt to explain things in good faith, as they are a godsend to me and keep me from having to chime in like this. Several people posted links to the FAQ and User Guidelines, as well as other forum threads that answered your question several times. Did I really have to write this out for you to believe it? I've written emails and forum posts about this very issue hundreds of times, and most users know this - the rules were established a LONG TIME AGO, and have not changed. They exist for very good reasons and have been thought out at great length - please do not disrespect the site, all it's users, and me by deciding you are above the rules - please just follow them.

Thanks,

-Hank
