Very sad day in Where's George? history
I causes me great grief to announce that today, George Carlin has passed away. He was a long-time comedic idol of mine, going back to when my older brother played for me his famous "seven words you can't say on TV" routine as well as the rest of his "Class Clown" album in the 70s.
So it came as a great surprise to me a few years ago when George (under a pseudonym) became intrigued with WG and became a user. He asked that his identity and usage of the site be kept confidential. Only fogette and I knew this. He entered dozens of bills from several locations as he toured across the country. He invited me and some friends to see his show at Foxwoods a few years ago (second row seats, for free), and the chance to meet him backstage. It was a blast to not only meet him in person since I loved his comedy for many decades, but also because he found and appreciated WG as an interesting hobby for himself.
Many times people have asked me if any celebrities are WG users. I have said that there was one such user, but he requested that not to be publicized. I can now let you all know that George Carlin was that user. As far as I know now, there are no other celebrity users of WG (yet).
George -- rest in peace. You changed the world. You will be missed.
