Or I will be by noon Pacific, anyway.
For those of you who somehow missed me blathering on about this since February, I am training to walk the Portland Marathon. After several initial doubts, I got very excited about this and started adding gradually to my "long walks." As of this week, my "short walks" are four and five miles, and I will be walking 13.1 miles this morning, half a marathon.
I have also lost 17 pounds and dropped a dress size in the process, so I am pretty darn pleased about that. I won't pester you with updates all the time, but this was a pretty big milestone and I wanted you to know.

LMAO ... I don't think he's in much danger of me being much competition. He goes fast enough in his races to get ticketed for speeding in some towns.
Regardless of such unfair comparisons (*wink*), I had a great time and feel wonderful. I'll feel like crap the rest of the day, but for now I'm pretty excited. This was a big milestone! : )

Hey, 88, was there any other changes that could be attributed to the weight loss, Like a change in eating habits, or do you think it happened because of the increase in activity level?
Nice goin'!

I'd say mostly the activity level, but some of it is eating habits. Even that, though, is almost entirely due to the exercising. After a few weeks of walking, it occurred to me that I would rather eat less dinner and fewer snacks than continue to carry that much extra weight around with me. One of the main turning points was the realization that my son, age 2 and very large for his age, weighed what I needed to lose. That was such an appalling image that it helped motivate me pretty fast!
Also, for unrelated reasons, I started doing more vegetarian cooking, and I think that helped as well.
Heck, whatever works ... I don't have any summer clothes to wear because they are all too big, and that's a wonderful problem!

Remember to wear some REALLY comfortable shoes. I know this from experience, having hiked 23 miles in mountains and 25 on the Ohio plains in one day. I may have an even bigger challenge this fall, when, at the college I'm going to, they have outing club trips. The one I want to do is Mt. Moosilauke, and I have heard they climb the 4802' mountain 3 times in one day, up and down, using six different trails and covering 36 miles! Whew!

WOW that's exciting and wonderful.........Congrats!
Since March, my hubby too has lost 20 pounds due to mostly increased exercise level and change to mostly vegetarian cooking. He'd like to lose 30 more.
Good luck!!!

HbG, if I wore those, I wouldn't get half a mile, and it wouldn't be because of the heels. I'd be mobbed by men trying to get a better look. ;)
Jack, if you drop a dress size, you gotta post pics.

If 88*Keys is doing that, ask her to step out of it after dropping it...otherwise it'll hide her feet!
