Exploding chocolate bars!

I ran across this rather strange bit of historical trivia while doing some research.

German saboteurs designed an exploding chocolate bar for a campaign of sabotage against Britain in World War II, according to documents released by the British National Archives. There was no evidence, however, that such lethal treats were ever deployed.

According to Uncle John's Slightly Irregular Bathroom Reader:

Germany set about counterfeiting British currency in order to cripple the economy. They dumped the bogus bills from the sky. But the Brits all gave the bills to the police, thereby averting disaster.

At the same time, we and Britain were counterfeiting German currency.
