I became an eminem fan after I recieved this nickname - I had a co worker that kept calling me Tim shady and at first I kept wondering WTF? - I finally asked him what that was about and he lent me a copy of the album. Then I understood.
My musical influences range -
Faith No More
Radiohead
Beatles
Doors
Pink Floyd
Nirvana
NIN
Cop Shoot Cop
NWA
Sinatra
Rage against the machine
Alice in Chains
Staind
Red Hot Chili Peppers
...etc (I am certainly leaving out quite a few bands)
I cant really pick a favorite - but here are the bands/artists that I have enjoyed.

don't be afraid. danny's quite harmless. he's really a nice guy, i'm told. he composes fun music for some of your favorite movies. like pee wee's big adventure and batman. and the simpsons! he's very respectable.
but danny has a secret. a deep, dark secret that lies buried in his past...

it has to do with the dark recesses of the human soul brought out blinking into the light, hissing and scratching with razor sharp claws...and an unquenchable hunger for...for...FOR...
don't worry, though. danny has been safely exorcised and is suitable for a wider listening audience. just ignore whatever you might have heard about subliminal influences in music. it's all poppycock.

Who is your favorite singer or group and why?
I have many, many, many - way too many to list, but I'll pick one to share.
EMERALD ROSE (http://www.emeraldrose.com/mainpage.htm) (Check out their link.)
I like them because they are great guys, they are very talented, and you can tell they are having fun with their music.

Like everyone else, I have way too many to deem one particular artist or band a favorite.... Here are a few though...
PJ HARVEY - creative, ever-evolving musically, edgy. She released an album in 2000 (stories from the city stories from the sea) that I think PERFECTLY captured the essence of society as it was going into the new millenium. She is always exploring new musical landscapes and styles, yet still retains a sound that is uniquely her own.
FLEETWOOD MAC - I love them pre and post buckingham and nicks. Though my favorite years are everything up to Mirage. Actually, Mirage was the first Fleetwood Mac record I ever got, and imagine the fun I had digging back and finding their roots...all the way to pre-christine mcvie even! Bare Trees was another favorite of mine. Of course out of this stemmed an undying love affair with Ms. Stevie Nicks. Bella Donna has remained a consistant soundtrack throughout my life.
HEART - Little Queen. Enough said
CONCRETE BLONDE - amazing Los Angeles band. "God is a Bullet" is what lured me into their world. "Joey" was their hit. No one has a voice like Johnette. When I first moved to Los Angeles (I would even venture to say that part of the reason I moved to LA was because of Concrete Blonde), I knew I would never leave when I was able to attend the opening of Johnette's art gallery (in Silverlake, closed a long time ago) and sit in the parking lot with about twenty other people and watch her sing. Amazing.
There are so so so many other singers/bands that have influenced me just as deeply as these three...I could go on forever. Music has always been one of the most important things in my life.
