Unfortunately, keeping up with the discussion board is becoming more of a chore than a relaxant. I don't enter enough bills to spend all of my spare time doing WG. I live in a small town where there's a limited number of things to do--eat sleep, hunt, gamble, fornicate, play golf--and I don't like to hunt or play golf. :D

So I am looking for more things to do with my spare time. I could go back to playing poker online. Or I could find more statistics to analyze in my WG spreadsheet. Whatever, I'm open to new ideas.

Go help rebuild New Orleans?

Go to your local church/fire station/shelter and see what you can do.

Come to Texas and clean my house. :D

Yeah, try volunteering somewhere...or if you just want to do something fun, go biking or hiking.

join a gym (if you haven't already) and begin a workout routine.

If I'm not on WG, chances are I'm doing something active! :)

Go bowling!

Or like Lisa said, go to the gym and get a lean mean fighting machine body!

I have too many hobbies (Where's George?) is one of them. They include
- Drawing cartoons (I'm taking a little while off from doing this)
- Looking for patterns in Lottery numbers
- Analyzing my dreams
- Playing pinball
- Reading the Bible (I want to do more of this)
- Where's George?
- Attending college and doing homework (would that that were a hobby and not a job!)

If any of this interests you, try it!

P.S. how do you eat sleep?

Good ideas. One small problem with some of them: I live in a small town. No bowling alley. No gym that I'm aware of. To do these things would require driving. Some time ago, I bought a tennis racket so I could hit tennis balls to get some exercise. Then I discovered there's no place to hit tennis balls around here, other than down the street in this neighborhood.

I like the idea of learning some programming and making a website. Considering that's what I do all day at work, though, I'd like to put some variety into my life.

(As for eating sleep, geez, you can't forget one comma around you people, can you? :D )

Build an oral history collection of your town. Buy a cheap tape recorder or use something you have and start interviewing people in your town. Do whenever you feel like it. Start with the old folks first. Get their stories. How did they end up in your town? Transcribe them and donate them to the nearest historical society.

Might be cool.

another idea adding onto zyzxx's would be to create an A/V history using a video camera. Or your own short films using a DV Camera and your computer to edit.... Hmm Maybe thats what I should be doing.

That's the downside of a gym..I too have to drive to mine.
How about exercise videos, or putting on some running shoes and going outside?:D

You can always hit the tennis balls against the side of a building.

You're in a better position to help than most of us.

You can always hit the tennis balls against the side of a building. Can't do that at the apartment; it's surrounded by grass. (My complex is a neighborhood of duplexes, with no tennis court of its own.)
You're not that far from New Orleans. You're in a better position to help than most of us.I would, but there isn't much of a relief effort in this town and the cities that have bigger relief efforts are too far away to make a drive on a daily basis. Susan in Nassau Bay asked me to be a contact for helping locate missing Georgers, though, so I can help that way.

Thanks for all of the suggestions. One of my consulting clients told me today that he intends to revive a project I worked on last year, so that will be more off-hours work for me.

Dude! Thats so MONEY!
