My family drove from New York to California and back. My parents were afraid they might have to cancle the trip because the price of gas had gone up from $0.35 / gallon.

It was a fun trip, took about 6 weeks and saw alot of the country.

I had my first son in August. It was a wonderful year with lots of new experiences for me. That's the year life changed forever for me!

1995: I took a roadtrip with some friends to a convention in Phoenix. We took the scneic route, visiting Carlsbad Caverns, Santa Fe, Albuquerque, Denver(!), Four Corners and the Grand Canyon on the way.

1977 my Dad was diagnosed with melanoma cancer. Thanks to a doctor who didn't believe the negative lab results and sent them to 5 additional labs. Thanks to that doctor and my Dad's toughness, he is still living today. I was 13 at the time.

We left Eugene, Oregon, dropped off seven trunks in San Francisco to be shipped to New Zealand, and drove to his parents in Lexington, Kentucky, to store the rest of our stuff.

This is a true story.
i hope I'm right about the year. Richard Nixon and George MC Govern were running for President. I was 1st or 2nd grade. My dad, uncle, and grandfather were all volunteers for the Democrat party. A few nights be for the election maybe one night George McGovern gave a speech at Long Beach Airport.
We arrived early and were right up front pushing up against the fence. When The Governors plane landed and came to the area where the speech was going to be give. As the doors of the plane opened I was up and my the shoulders of my dad & uncle. In a way the weight was not so bad for either on. So the doors open the crowd starts to push forward. I was holding on to the top of the fence while still on the shoulders. The fence went over. I was still hanging on and went with the fence. As soon as I hit the ground 3 men picked me up away from the crowd to safety. The next morning when I went to school my teacher had the L A Times with my picture in the arms of the secret service.

Again this is 100% true story. I have looked so many time for a copy of the paper w/ no luck:(

well I may have posted about this one already (Graduated, turned 18...). But it is also when I had my first job working at a convience store. I worked there for 3 months before I left for college. The thing I learned the most was that people can be very addicted to scratch off lottery tickets!!

Oops my stupidity didn't follow directions: Umm 1987? I was two years old...And my parents had a hard time potty training me! How about that?I don't know if this one has been listed yet so I'll take a shot:

1995: The year I had a major surgery routine on my left ear. They nearly had to cut it all off to go inside of it to repair my ear drum which had a hole in it. Still to this day, I have 20% hearing loss in that ear. I still have the scar to prove it...wanna see?:p

1979!! Fabulous Year. The Steelers won the Super Bowl, the Pirates won the World Series, and we moved from Pittsburgh, PA to here in San Diego, CA. I turned nine the week before the move, so I got birthday parties at both grandparents' houses!:D I had three surviving grandparents then. Thankfully, I still have one now. She'll be 21.5 the end of February (leap day baby, 1920) and just as feisty as ever. Anyway, I could bore you all with details, but that's the most important thing that happened to me in '79.

in 1957 I was in my "Terrible Two's",,,, my Mom told me the story once that we had a pet rabbit and she found me sitting with the bunny and pulling all it's fur out. After it grew it's fur back they let it "go" in the woods behind the house.

Took a motorcycle ride to California. Made stops in the Salt Flats, San Francisco, the Red Woods area, Death Valley, Vegas, Grand Canyon, the 4 corners, Mesa Verde, the Alamo etc. etc. On the road 21 days. Came home with a sore butt and I lost 3 layers of skin off of my nose.

I guess nobody likes 1969, so I will answer again.
Went on a road trip with 3 buddies to Buffalo New York where the drinking age was 18. It was 21 here in Ontario at the time. We were like kids in a candy shop when we went to a fruit market and saw the beer stacked up against the back wall. Filled up the tub at the motel with beer and covered it up with ice. Almost got kicked out of the motel. Only thing we declared when we crossed back into Canada was 4 hangovers.

First year of high school. Started playing football. Started in September at 130 lb. In December was up to 160 lb. In those days, I would not be considered chubby. Quickest weight gain and growth spurt I ever had. After spending the first 8 years of school at a country school with just a few local neighbour girls, and then to get bused into town with all those other grade 9ers. OMG, I thought I was in heaven;) Did I mention, I had a one track mind back then:eek:
